Es wurde 1949 erbaut und wartet mit einer satten Kapazit&#228;t von 10.000 Zuschauern auf und ist somit das zweitgr&#246;&#223;te Stadion der Stadt. Der SV S&#252;dwest ist durch zig Fusionen entstanden, auch um gezielt Kr&#228;fte zu b&#252;ndeln. Der angestrebte Aufstieg in die Bundesliga konnte aber leider nie realisiert werden. Gr&#246;&#223;ter Erfolg der Vereinsgeschichte ist das erreichen des DFB Pokal Viertelfinales 77\/78 das gegen den 1.FC N&#252;rnberg verloren ging. Zuvor konnte man sensationell den 1. FC Kaiserslautern vor 17.000 Zuschauern im S&#252;dwest Stadion nebenan ausschalten. Inzwischen spielt man solide seit einigen Jahren in der Verbandsliga S&#252;dwest.
